Senator Kennedy arrives at Al Macs Diner in Fall River
on October 24, 2006
Senator Kennedy arrives at Al Macs Diner and is greeted by a group of young
supporters that he shakes hands with and then also chatted briefly with Fall
River School Committee member Tim McCoy.
Southcoast Tribune's Publisher, Chuck Gregory was also
there.
Likewise, Fall River Herald News photographer Jack Foley and
Herald News reporter Will Richmond.
Senator Kennedy was very well received by all the patrons at
Al Mac's
Likewise, he also greeted them very well and went around the entire diner and
greeted everyone including going back into the kitchen to greet Al Mac's Earle Bryer.

I understand that the Senator ordered a cheeseburger and soda.

Other local dignitaries there that I recognized included State Representative
Michael Rodrigues and City Councilor Linda Pereira.
In summary, I thought it was an amazing afternoon and I was very glad I was able
to catch it on video and to shake hands and talk with Senator Ted Kennedy.
The only other time I ever got to shake hands with a member of the Kennedy family was with
John F. Kennedy back in either 1958 or 1959 when I was a student at B.M.C.
Durfee High School in Fall River and John F. Kennedy and Jackie both
visited the school.
Fall River has always been a very strong supporter of Senator Kennedy in every
election he has been in and some of those supporters were there at Al Macs on
this day to meet him. I was very much impressed by Kennedy that day as I
could see that one of his goals for the day was to thank each and every one of
those supporters that were there at Al Mac's as he made a point to go around the
diner to meet and thank everyone there including the people in the kitchen.
I guess that you would correctly say that Kennedy was just
out campaigning that day even though he was sure to be re-elected in the
upcoming November election. However, I kind of thought that he
considered it more of a "duty" to come down to Fall River that day to
thank the people of Fall River for their support over the year's. The best
I could tell, everyone at Al Mac's Diner that day that I saw was a
Democrat and were going to vote for him anyway.
I therefore believe, the only vote
Kennedy gained that day at the diner for the November election
was "mine".
